CEO

Tom L. Ward has spent his career finding and producing oil and gas, launching new companies and bringing relief to the marginalized. Ward is currently Chief Executive Officer of Mach Resources LLC, an Oklahoma City based oil and gas company that launched in January 2017. In September 2013, he founded and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tapstone Energy. Prior to that Ward served in the same role at SandRidge Energy, Inc. from June 2006 through June 2013. From 1989 until 2006, he was President, Chief Operating Officer, and a Director of Chesapeake Energy Corporation, which he co-founded with Aubrey K. McClendon. From 1983 to 1989, he was an independent producer of oil and gas in partnership with Mr. McClendon.

Ward owns TLW Trading, L.L.C. which invests in commodities both physically and financially. His team is focused on energy with a bias towards North American natural gas markets. Heritage Feeders, L.P. and TLW Land & Cattle, L.P. are also owned by Ward. Heritage Feeders is among the top 10 cattle feeders in the U.S.

In 2000 Ward and his family founded White Fields, a non-profit organization caring for Oklahoma’s most severely abused and neglected boys who are in the custody of the state. White Fields serves boys ages 8 to 18, helping them regain their ability to trust, heal emotionally, broaden relationships and develop into adulthood. In addition to White Fields, the Tom L. Ward Family Foundation primarily supports Oklahoma based organizations that display compassion to the poor, as well as those that provide care, education and second chances to the imprisoned.

Ward graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1981 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Petroleum Land Management. He has been married to Sch'ree Ward since 1978 and is a father of four and granddad to nine.
